Photography Competitions 2010 - 2011

I have posted and will be maintaining a page for announcements about photography competitions - as much to remind myself as everybody else! Hopefully, this will make it easy for everyone to keep up to date with the latest competitions.

Site changes

With the posting of the latest photo on this site (number 230!), it has become increasingly clear that the site is losing it's way somewhat. The images are less about travel, and more wide-reaching. I have decided therefore to separate the images. The site will be split into two, with general photography going onto one site, and travel photography staying here. I shall have to edit the photos somewhat, leaving only the best 25% on the sites.

I also have to decide where to place all the archives; the feeds from other sites (such as the UNESCO World Heritage List); the photo competitions section and so on.

The travel tales were at one point in a separate WordPress area of the site, and I may well revert to this system, in order to encourage me to update the tales a tad more frequently than in the past.

This will all doubtless take a while, before I even consider practicalities such as design, databases and so on, so I don't expect any rapid movement before this summer 2010, but I thought that I'd make my intentions clear now for any followers that may be out there (thanks, by the way!)

About stickyrice.co.uk

This Web site, stickyrice.co.uk, is devoted to my travel photography: predominantly from South and South-east Asia, (most notably photos from India, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar/Burma). Recently, I have begun to include some travelogues (I call them Tall Tales) - personal recollections from my independent world travel during the past 27 years.

Yes, but I've come here looking for sticky rice information/pictures

Yes; a few people do! Read more about sticky rice.

More about the photography and the Web site

The site contains photography from all parts of the globe, but primarily still concentrates on South-east Asia. The new design includes a section I call Tall Tales, ('exaggerated stories'), after the phrase much used in the land of the Kiwi, (bird, not fruit). The Tall Tales are recollections of particular events which I have experienced during my years of travelling the globe. These are often sketchy, I'll admit, and doubtless embellished or polished where elements are uncertain, but they are all based on a personal experience.
